Dr. Basanta Hazarika is a highly experienced pulmonologist, currently serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Pulmonary Medicine at Gauhati Medical College & Hospital, while also consulting at Nemcare Super Speciality Hospital, Guwahati. Holding an MBBS, MD, DM in Pulmonary Medicine, along with the prestigious FCCP (Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians), Dr. Hazarika is recognized for his expertise and leadership in the field of respiratory medicine.

With over 30 years of professional experience, he specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide spectrum of respiratory conditions, including asthma, COPD, tuberculosis, lung cancer, sleep apnea, and pneumonia. Beyond clinical care, he is deeply engaged in academics and postgraduate training , contributing to the advancement of medical education in the region.

Dr. Hazarika has also been instrumental in organizing national conferences and hands-on workshops in interventional pulmonology and is credited with pioneering advanced procedures, including introducing the state’s first convex EBUS (endobronchial ultrasound).
